By the end of the month before the month during which you are hosting, please choose at least three days in different weeks and on different days that will work for you and notify the other participants, asking if those days work for them. It is best and easiest to use email and ask invitees to “reply all” so all are involved in working out the best date. Invitees should respond promptly. If they do not, please call them since emails sometimes go astray.
As soon as a date is selected, notify all by email and ask that they respond to acknowledge they have received the information.
A few days prior to the meal, let your guests know what the main course will be and coordinate side dishes as necessary. If several singles are coming, you can just be creative about what each person will contribute. All the menu options are just suggestions and are negotiable. Appetizers and wine are good options for subs without specific assignments.
Then just enjoy preparing to receive guests bringing food and enjoy welcoming and visiting with them on the evening of the meal.
If there are new parishioners or folks meeting for the first time, it is a good idea to take fifteen minutes or so for everybody to tell a little about themselves, where from, church history, interests, etc. It’s just an ice breaker.
And, but sure to take a group photo and email it to dkwilliams2007@gmail.com for the Hospitality St. Peter’s Photo Album!
“Bless us O Lord, and these thy gifts which we are about to receive from thy bounty through Christ our Lord – Amen.”
